How the Virtual Safety Car works

The Virtual Safety Car is relatively new to F1. Introduced in 2015, it was a means of forcing all the cars to slow down around the track at once.

The language around the VSC is never particularly clear but the whole process is actually a lot simpler than it may sometimes seem. This video explains what it's supposed to do, how it works and why it's so effective.

How does F1 let innovation thrive without stifling the rest of the sport?

There is a battle at the heart of Formula 1. Its need to allow engineers to constantly innovate and push design and technology can stifle good racing and many of the values that make F1 great. Slide your own predictions into the comments and I might include them when I look back at the end of the year.

Every F1 Intro Video ever

Formula 1 broadcasting has a bit of a... formula to it. Not least, the overly pretentious, ultra-poetic intro video.

I take it upon myself to create my own deconstructed intro video.

You might not get this if you're not a UK F1 viewer.
